FAQs

How much do your services cost?
We offer several complete wedding/renewal packages, please email with details about your ceremony to get a specific cost quote.  We require a small non-refundable deposit to reserve a date/time.

Where can we get a marriage license?
Information on marriage licenses may be found here.

May we write our own wedding vows?
Absolutely!  The vows that you say may be your own words or you may use a complete ceremony that we will provide.

Are you available to meet with us before the ceremony?

Definitely! A consultation meeting is complimentary.

Will you attend the wedding rehearsal?
Yes, the fee to add a 1 hour rehearsal is $50 for weddings in central Ohio.

Our wedding will be out of town.  Will you perform our ceremony?
Yes, but for ceremonies outside the central Ohio area, there is an additional surcharge based on distance.

What do I need to do to legally change my last name after we are married?
After completion of the ceremony, we will sign the marriage license. We will then return your marriage license to the Probate Court. The Probate Court will then certify the document and record the marriage.  Your marriage certificate will be available for order from the Probate Court after about 5 business days. There is a $2 fee for your marriage certificate.  You will need original copies of this document for changing your name on driver's license, credit cards, bank accounts, etc. Following your ceremony, we'll send you a detailed email describing the steps in the order that makes the name change process easiest.

How much advance notice do you need in order to book a wedding?
Our availability changes very frequently as we book new weddings.  Most couples book with us anywhere from 6 to 12 months in advance while others do it only a month or two before the wedding.  We try to be flexible in accommodating you.

How long is the ceremony?
Once we have worked with you to create or customize your ceremony, we will be able to give you a good idea of what to expect in terms of time, however, usually a ceremony lasts between 10-20 minutes.

What do you wear?
Unless otherwise requested, a standard black suit is worn.

What forms of payment do you accept?
Payment by check is preferred, but we also accept major credit cards.

Do you stay for the reception?
No, we do not stay for the reception.  The reception is an intimate time for friends and family to enjoy spending time with the newlyweds.

I am currently out of state or too far to meet with you before the wedding. Can I still book your services?
Yes, you may always book our services no matter where you are if we have the date available. If we cannot meet in person, we will do a full consultation meeting with you via telephone or Skype and we will discuss all aspects of the ceremony.

What's the difference between a marriage license and a marriage certificate?
The marriage license is obtained from the Probate Court and must be obtained before your wedding. The marriage certificate is obtained after the wedding from the Probate Court.  The marriage certificate is the legal proof of your married status.
